This week we welcome a Canon Digital SLR into the family!

I realize that I have an unnatural creative mind.

No, not an unnaturally creative mind, an unnatural one.

I tend to grab a creative idea, obsess over learning about it and trying my hand at it,....then find something else and therefore either forget about the prior idea or (even worse) forget how to do it. I can even see this by looking back at some of my older posts. The 3D animation for instance. I focused on it for a few days, learned alot of the shortcut keys and memorized what the important confusing buttons and menus did.

...then I focused on something else...

...and now I have forgotten everything that took me hours to get used to and learn....

Then we have the shirt idea, something that I would still very much like to do but haven't been able to focus on yet.

And the list goes on.

So what am I saying?

Out of all my creative ideas and attempts, one in particular has successfully stuck with me over the years.

Photography.

Emily and I are both very interested in pushing our photography skills further but haven't had the means to.

Until now!

My super awesome aunt has decided to give us both the gift of a Digital SLR!!

A Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS 1000D...to be exact.

This sexy devil will finally slap the face of our old (and falling apart) Canon point n' shoot!

I predict there is a creativity storm coming...

You've been warned!

Zombies and Gears. And creativity!

I've been creative lately, which is pretty fantastic.
It hasn't come on it's own free will though. It has been...influenced. I've been working on a zombie photo contest while at the same time getting super excited about the Xbox 360 game "Gears of War 2".
What this means is that I had to turn myself into a zombie/super alien killer.
Obviously.
The zombie pic is still a work in progress. Not sure what background to use (these are my top picks as of now). I'm also probably gonna touch up the gore.
Oh yeah and the chest hair, allllllllllllll natural.

Holy Junk, The Shirts Are Coming!

Shirts.
I love them. Apparently other people do too. Shirts cost money and make money.
What do all these random mini-sentences have in common? They happen to be the reason why I will soon be making and selling shirts! It's official!
Well,....It's officially gotten into head.

Anyways this is the plan:

Now for the prep. In the next few weeks my business associate/wife and myself will be photoshopping masterpieces. We'll see what happens...

I'm making GIF Animations!

It's nothing super fantastic but I've just finished making my first GIF Animations. Easiest things in the world and fun! This is what will now happen when I am bored and on photoshop...

Today I try 3D using Blender!

So I tried my hand at 3D for the first time ever today! I've been using Blender. This is a totally free 3D program and you can find it for yourself at blender.org. I've been reading and watching tutorials for hours now and love it! Heres my very first sculpt WIP:

The Dark Freaking Knight

So this has nothing to do with my art. It has more to do with art appreciation...

I just watched The Dark Knight and yes, It's actually as amazing as it is said to be. Its by far the greatest superhero movie I have ever watched. Ledger does become what is now the greatest representation of a super villain on film...ever. I can honestly say that any male who does not in some way love this film...should probably just stop watching movies altogether.

I've learned how to make my own picture hyperlinks!

That's right, now when I post a link to this blog I can do it in style. I've been playing with different types and looks. I like to give myself options. So far I've come up with these 12 choices. If anyone is interested in putting my sweet-o blog link on their own website let me know and I'll send you the embed link code!

My new Watermark!

Today I finally created a digital watermark signature for my [more important] images.
This is an example of the variations. (Normally each image will only get one of these watermarks.) With more than one choice I''ll be able to cut down on the watermarks distraction from the image. Dark tends to blend in with dark and light with light. Plus I can tweak the opacity. Sooo....thanks to my brain, crisis diverted.

The Nine Charcoal Portraits

Well, this is my very first post. I hope to be updating this regularly, as I plan on making it my official go-to website.

During the next few months I will be preparing to become a full fledge seller of the arts. I will be selling photo prints, photo stock, as well as charcoals like these ones. So stay tuned (subscribe!) and see what happens.

Recently I decided to create some cartoony portraits. All of these were done using charcoal on 11x15, heavy weight, durable, cold press, acid free paper originally used for watercolor.
To see any of them closer, click on the picture and increase the size.
These will soon be for sale on either Ebay or Etsy!
